Why use a cribbing muzzle?Cribbing is one of the most frustrating behaviors that horse owners have to deal with. Cribbing is a behavior in which the horse will grip with its incisors on pretty much anything available, such as a fence post, stall door or even a bucket, then arch its neck and pull back. In doing so, the horse typically tenses up the muscles in its neck and face, retracts its voice box, and gulps down air into the esophagus. Some say that the horses get a "high" off of this and the behavior is addictive. There are many theories as to why horses do this, such as boredom, vitamin deficiencies and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders. Many owners find it impossible to stop this behavior once it starts, that is where our cribbing muzzles come in to play. Our cribbing muzzles are a humane alternative to other methods. Because they are lightweight and comfortable, we have found that horses tolerate our Best Friend Cribbing Muzzles better than other products on the market.
